Phantom Ranch & Bright Angel Trail

Bright Angel Trail. This is the Tonto Trail going across the plateau.
We are getting close to the top, you can tell because there are lots of hikers.

The mules take all of the food down to Phantom Ranch, they also bring the trash out daily.

A Week in Houston

We went to Houston last week to visit our kids and grandchild. It was St. Patrick's Day and Michelle and AJ dressed for the occasion. We went for a walk to a near by park.

AJ enjoyed being strolled around by Papa.

Margaret invited us over for lunch and Carol was visiting for a week.

We went to Little Gym with AJ, he had fun playing with all of the equipment.

Michelle had a hat for St. Patrick's Day and AJ loved to wear it around the house. He was very entertaining.

J. Becker Memorial Sled Races

Our camp site, we had hot dogs and lots of muchies that everyone brought.

I placed 1st in the women's division.

Old Fashioned Valentine Party

Everyone, including Frank, decorated a sack to hold their valentines.

After dinner we exchanged our valentines

Connie and Darrel arrived late so Joe took the liberty to decorate Connie's valentine sack. He drew a devil on it and when she walked in door we all laughed when we saw her shirt, it had a devil on it.

I'm 60 !!

The BIG day has arrived, I'm 60. Elizabeth & Royce hosted the party.


We actually celebrated four February birthdays.
Each of us had our own cake.

We are lucky to have so many friends to celebrate with, dinner was fabulous.

Snow Shoe Outing

We are trying to get lots of exercise and snow shoeing is perfect. This is Del Norte Peak, a 13,000' mountain, we hiked it a couple of summers ago.

We had to decend on a SW facing slope, as you can see there wasn't much snow. This hike was on the east side of town where it doesn't snow quite as much as around our home.

We hiked near Dick's ranch and he told us a lot about the area. This is a volcano.

Bristal Head and Surrounding Areas.

We went to Creede for lunch today with Gary and Doretha Wall, it was such nice weather after lunch we decided to take a ride up to Clear Creek Falls. Unfortunately it was only open to snow mobilers, but I did get some nice photos of the area.

We pretty much had the whole area to ourselves.

We finally saw some wild life, there were 5 elk near the river when we were almost back to South Fork.
